WELLSBORO - Two court proceedings have been waived or delayed this week in Tioga County.
Debra Lockett, 57, of Morris, accused in the shooting death of Oliver Litzelman and aggravated assault of his wife, Edwina Litzelman, of Liberty, last fall, waived her Monday morning arraignment in Tioga County Court.
A waiver generally means the defendant's counsel understands the charges and knows what plea the defendant plans to make.
Lockett plans to plead not guilty on all charges.
The district attorney's office claims the Sept. 13 attack on the elderly couple was deliberate after Lockett allegedly talked her way into the Litzelman residence by claiming to be a descendant of the Litzelman clan, and then demanded money of them.
No other court date has been set as of yet, according to court administration personnel, and Lockett remains in the Tioga County Prison without bail.
Simon Gigee, 43, of Westfield, was to appear in a preliminary hearing Tuesday, but that hearing was postponed until 10 a.m. Friday before District Judge Rob Repard, court personnel said.
His first scheduled preliminary hearing April 22 also was postponed.
Gigee faces charges in the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed 34-year-old Rhonda Fromm, of Lawrence Township, in 2006, when the allegedly stolen trailer he was pulling on Route 287 became detached and hit Fromm's vehicle head-on.
Gigee was released from jail last month after posting $50,000 property and cash bail, reduced from $100,000 at the request of his attorney.
