Edna P. McCleary, 92, formerly of York, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at ManorCare in South Williamsport.
She was born Aug. 17, 1921, in Red Lion, the daughter of Perry Wiley and Reba Alberta (Keesey) Anderson.
Edna was the wife of the late Rev. Leon A. McCleary with whom she shared 67 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2011.
She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Manchester. She was very active in the churches served by her husband as long as her health permitted.
Edna sang in choirs and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the WSCS and the National Honor Society.
She graduated in 1939 with honors from Red Lion Area High School followed by two years at Thompson Business School in York.
Edna enjoyed knitting, crocheting, counted cross-stitching, reading and sewing.
She is survived by a daughter, Eileen P. (Edward) Prowant, of Salladasburg; a son, Michael D. (Janie) McCleary, of Mifflinburg; three grandsons and six great-grandchildren.
Edna was predeceased by a son, Leon A. McCleary Jr.
Edna's Life Celebration memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, at the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Helen M. Learn officiating.
