Kathy Gorg has taken her passion for pottery and turned it into a business.
Centered Earth Clay Arts Studio and Gallery opened June 9 at 111 N. Montour St., Montoursville.
"This is something I wanted to do for 10 years or more," Gorg said as she sat in her spacious newly opened site just a block north of the borough's downtown.

With nearly 3,000 square feet of space, she's has plenty of room for displaying pottery and teaching classes. Gorg, a Williamsport Area School District art teacher, said she's hopes to impart her passion of working with clay to others. She and four other teachers have already begun holding classes for adults and children.
"We offer classes for all levels," she said.
This summer, her studio will offer kids camps. The front of her store is given over to a gallery where she displays various pottery.

Her business also sells pottery and related items. But the focal aspect of her business are the classes. She plans to schedule special occasions for families, couples and others who want to work with clay.
"We can have parties," she said.
Her business includes a library of educational DVD's people can view to learn various aspects of pottery.
"The studio is well-equipped," she said. "There's anything anyone needs here to get started."
Gorg, who studied art at Kutztown University, hopes to introduce more people to pottery. She remembered back on those college days when she first became familiar to the art form.
"Most people who think of art think of drawing and painting," she said.
But pottery is yet another art form, and Gorg can't wait to show more people what it's all about. More information is at www.centeredearth.com and 570-666-3159.
