Samuel E. Menniti, 87, of Whitehall, walked into eternity to be with the Lord on Wednesday July 9, 2014.
Sam and his loving wife Mary Lou (Andrewlevich) have been married for 58 years. He was born April 29, 1927, to the late Mose and Rose (Vivino) Menniti. The third of six children, Sam was born in Mount Carmel.
Sam graduated in 1944 from Mount Carmel High School. He then served in the U.S. Navy with honorable discharge in 1946. Sam was an long time member, 60 years, of American Legion Post No. 367 Fullerton, and of the Veterans of Foreign War and Elks Club of Mount Carmel.
He then attended the Antonelli School of Photography, graduating with a degree in Photography. He graduated from Arizona State in 1954 with a B.S. in Accounting.
In 1948 while attending Arizona State, the University noted his work in photography was so good the school sponsored him to take a picture of Leo Durocher, of the Giants Baseball team and the "Toni Twins" at Frank Lloyd Wright's School of Architecture.
Remember Bill Cullen who asked the audience, "Which twin has the Toni?" referring to the home permanents of the fifties? Sam may have known. He worked for Equitable Life Insurance, G.A.C., and PP and L before retiring in 1989.
He volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital Finance Department for 10 years after retirement. Working at St. Luke's finance department, was a perfect match for a man who was analytical and understood audits, inventory and accountability. Every Wednesday and Friday Sam joined his "team" at Polk St. where Finance was headquartered.
Sam's passions in life were gardening, travelling and spending time with his family, especially at family reunions. Sam's steadfast faith and unconditional love was felt by all who knew him.
In addition to Mary Lou, Sam is survived by sons, Richard Menniti and his wife Jan, of Houston, Texas, Daniel Menniti and his wife Katherine, of North Wales; daughters Maria, wife of Bob Kucharczuk of Allentown, Suzanne, wife of Paul Cressman, of Bethlehem, Nancy wife of Major Harvey Howard USMC (Ret.), of Norfolk, Va., Christina, wife of Peter Chapman, of Charlottesville, Va., Mary Ann, wife of David Laky of Whitehall; brother, Rev.
