Glenn M. Beach, 89, of Williamsport, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Rose View Center.
Born November 29, 1924, in Cogan Station, he was the son of Maurice and Eva (Ludwig) Beach.
Glenn was a 1941 graduate of Hepburnville High School. He was a World War II Army veteran and a Purple Heart recipient.
Following his service time he worked for Eastern Wood Products and later was a self-employed excavator and contractor. He then retired from the former Bethlehem Steel as splicer in 1988.
He was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church. Glenn belonged to the Lycova Grange No. 2006, Wheel Inn, Penn Yan Elks, and was the past president of Dog Run Hunting Club for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are a son, Galen (Christina) Beach, of Williamsport; daughters, Sharon Wendt, of Lynchburg, Va., and Lisa Beach, of Williamsport; step-daughter, Doris (John) Egli, of Cogan Station; grandchildren, Chelsea (Ronald) Lowe, Meghan Starr, Morgan Johnston, Katie (Micah) Kauffman, and Christopher Wendt; step-grandchildren, Jason Egli, James Bates, Betsy (James) Horton, and Kathy (Ron) Wagner; great-grandson, Lance Wendt; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. (Weitzel) Beach on May 19, 2002; a brother, Russell Beach; and step-grandson, Robert Bates.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with the Rev. Ron Savits officiating. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home and 9 a.m. until time of service on Friday. Burial to follow in Stoltz Cemetery.
