SUNBURY - Artists in the Susquehanna Valley area are invited to participate in the annual judged Susquehanna Art Society Art Show.
Membership in the society is not a requirement. Last year's entries totaled nearly 270.
There will be three ability level classifications: advanced, intermediate and beginner. There also will be a student level classification for those age 17 and younger.
Within each level, the media categories are: watercolor, opaque (oils, acrylic, pastel), other (graphics, sculpture, mixed media) and photography.
A first, second and honorable mention award will be made in each level category represented. A popular choice award, determined by viewer's votes, will be given at the close of the show. Monetary awards in all categories represented will be made at the artists' reception, which will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14.
The artwork will be on display from Aug. 13 to 21 in the Degenstein Community Library community room, 40 S. Fifth St.
The artwork will be judged by Penny Lutz, director of the Gallery at Penn College.
Works to be hung must be dry, suitably framed with no brackets or exposed glass edges with wires and be ready for display. They may not measure more than 48 inches in any direction. Pedestals or other suitable bases or methods for displaying free-standing works must be supplied by the artist.
Decisions of appropriateness will be made at the discretion of the receiving committee.
Artwork will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8 and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 9 in the Library Community Room.
