MIFFLINBURG - The Herr Memorial Library will host a Kick Start Your Heart event from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday for children of all ages and their caregivers.
The event is an extension of the summer reading theme "Fizz, Boom, READ! ... Spark A Reaction."
The event includes two different styles of workouts (approximately 15-20 minutes in length) for children demonstrated by two different exercise facilities in the area.
The first is a boot camp style workout presented by Nisan Trotter the co-founder and head instructor of TrotFitness, Lewisburg. The second workout is by Vicki Pachucki, who is the childrens' Zumba instructor for Extreme Fitness, Mifflinburg.
Certified EMT's and EMR's will be available to document vital signs such as pulse and heart rate before and after workouts so children and their caregivers can see what changes occur in the body.
Healthy snacks and drinks will be provided, as well as healthy recipes and nutritional information provided by Weis Markets.
Children also can participate in a craft and other healthy activities. The American Red Cross also will have information on CPR and first-aid certification programs and other classes they offer to the community.
To register for the free event, call Herr Memorial Library at 570-966-0831, or stop by the circulation desk during regular working hours.
