MANSFIELD - A 57-year-old convicted sex offender faces charges for allegedly failing to comply with his registration requirements.
According to the state police, on July 16 a tip was made to the Megan's Law Unit that Mansfield resident Ronald E. Colton, was seen packing belongings from his residence into his truck. Colton initially had registered his residence on Route 6 in Sullivan Township with state police on Nov. 19, 2013.
Colton failed to respond to attempts made by police to contact him and was not seen returning to his residence between July 17 and July 20.
On July 19, Casey Nicole Colton advised that she had seen the defendant in Troy earlier that day.
Tioga County probation officer James Edgcomb advised the state police that Colton is on probation and had informed the officer during a probation visit that he was working at a factory in Towanda. After contacting Geld-Wen in Towanda, Trooper Roger Williams confirmed that Colton had been employed there since March 3.
Colton was arraigned before District Judge James E. Carlson on charges of failing to comply with registration requirements and jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.
