Ray A. Brungard, 80, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, in White Deer Township, Union County.
Born in White Deer on July 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Walter Charles and Esther (Atkins) Brungard. He was married to the former Beatrice Ellen Stump for 47 years until her death in 2000.
Ray was a 1952 graduate of the Watsontown High School and attended the Lycoming Technical School. He was a typesetter and printer for the Milton Standard, A. E. Miller Printing and Lycoming Printing. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and camping and especially loved making homemade ice cream.
He is survived by four sons, Ray A. Brungard Jr., of North Beach, Md., Paul G. Brungard, of Mifflinburg, David G. Brungard, of Hillsboro, Ore. and Tedd A. Brungard, of Watsontown; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Russell Brungard, of Gaithersburg, Md.
In addition to this wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gay Brungard; a brother, Walter C. Brungard II; and a sister, Claire Kessell.
Friends and relatives will be received on Monday, Aug. 11 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Don L. Snyder Jr. of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Watsontown, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
