Locally elected and appointed officials voted on the following matters in the past week:
Lycoming County Board of Elections voted 2-0 to approve new polling place locations in Jackson, Loyalsock and Wolf townships to be effective for the general election in November. Voting yes were Commissioners Tony Mussare and Ernie Larson. Judge Richard A. Gray was absent.
City Council voted 6-0 to create an ordinance amending a city parking law to change the parking permit issuance requirement from city police to Williamsport Parking Authority. Voting in favor were President Bill Hall, Bonnie Katz, Liz Miele, Don Noviello, Randall J. Allison and N. Clifford "Skip" Smith. Councilman Jonathan Williamson was absent.
The Williamsport Area School Board voted 8-0 to hire Peter D. Chapla as assistant superintendent with a salary of $120,000. Voting yes were David Stone, Lori Baer, Jerene Milliken, Karen Confer, Diane Turner, Jane Penman, Spencer Sweeting, and Robin Knauth. Nicholas Grimes did not attend. By the same vote, the board hired Anne Logue as director of human resources for the district with a salary of $83,500.
The South Williamsport Area School District voted 6-0 for the district to enter into agreement with ACE American Management Advisors Inc. for student accident insurance for the 2014-2015 school year. The insurance provides interscholastic athletic coverage at an annual premium of $8,357. It also provides voluntary student accident plans at a rate of $22 for a school time plan and $88 a 24-hour plan. Voting yes were John Engel, Donald Lowe, Greg Anthony, Joseph Pulizzi III, Sam Burch and Cathy Bachman. Absent from the vote were Chris Branton, Jerry Broskey and Sue Davenport.
