The city's planning commission recommended approval for the Williamsport Islamic Center to be relocated to 322 Locust St.
The center would be classified as conditional use, according to zoning official Gary Knarr.
He said the center initially relocated to a facility on Campbell Street and Park Avenue, but that property has been sold.
A representative from the Islamic Center told the commission on Monday morning that the Locust Street location will provide ample space for its services.
In other business, the commission recommended that City Council approve the following measures:
A certificate of appropriateness for Rapmitco Properties Co., 228 Government Place, to paint the first-floor front entry ways.
A certificate of appropriateness for the Malee Law Firm, 310 and 312 E. Third St., to paint the front of the building.
A request from Robert Kibler for a one-lot subdivision at 3540 W. Fourth St.
