Carl E. McCoy, 83, of Oval, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at Jersey Shore Hospital.
Born Dec. 14, 1930, in Montoursville, he was a son to the late Hugh Edward and Stella Elizabeth (Springman) McCoy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Confer) McCoy, in 1996.
Carl honorably served his country in the United States Army from July 1952 to July 1954. He was a member of Nippenose Bible Fellowship, where he was a former Deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Carl was a loyal churchman, a Christian in the finest sense of the word, and a friend to all.
Surviving are his children, David W. (Cindy) McCoy, of Oval, Timothy C. (Darlene) McCoy, of Linden, Steven K. (Shawnda) McCoy, of Lock Haven, Carlene K. Gaither, of Cogan Station, and Kathleen A. (David) Way, of Sayre; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert McCoy, of Montoursville, and Harry (Debbie) McCoy, of Watsontown; and sisters, Shirley Adams, of Cogan Station, Ruth (Jack) Fisher, of Montoursville, and Darlene (Jim) Holdren, of Danville.
A funeral service will be held noon, Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Nippenose Bible Fellowship, 92 Schoolhouse Road, Jersey Shore, with the Rev. David McCoy officiating. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Burial will be held in Jersey Shore Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
