A state police investigation uncovered two men allegedly selling cocaine.
Markeese Askew, 21, of 886 High St., and Darryl R. Harris, 33, of Philadelphia, are each facing charges for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communications facility. Harris also is facing charges for fleeing from police.
According to an affidavit, a criminal informant arranged to meet with Askew and Harris via text message around 5 p.m. Thursday and used $300 of pre-recorded funds to buy cocaine. Police observed the informant's meeting with the two men in a red Buick Lacrosse.
Police attempted to pull over the Lacrosse, at which time Harris sped away from police, eventually crashing into a curb on Fourth Avenue. Harris and Askew then fled from police on foot and were apprehended.
During the arrest, Harris was found to be in possession of $1,417 and Askew was found to be in possesion of $22.
Askew and Harris were arraigned in front of Judge Gary Whiteman. Askew was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail and Harris was jailed in lieu of a $125,000 bail.
