One man reportedly was injured following a shooting in the 1000 block of Memorial Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Friday.
According to city police Assistant Chief Timothy Miller, the man was shot in the arm and sustained a superficial wound. He flagged down an officer responding to the scene and was taken to Williamsport Regional Medical Center in a police cruiser.
Multiple shots were fired and multiple people were involved in the shooting, Miller said, though the police haven't identified any suspects yet.
Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Memorial Avenue Friday morning. One man was injured and taken to Williamsport Regional Medical Center for treatment.
During the gunfire, a house was struck by one of the bullets. No additional victims were found and it didn't appear that anyone else had been harmed, Miller said.
A female resident of Memorial Avenue who asked to remain anonymous said she was inside watching television when she heard the gun shots.
She said everything happened so soon that she didn't see much, just neighbors coming out to see what happened.
Though the shots were startling, she wasn't surprised to hear a shooting in the area.
"It's becoming a normal thing," she said. "It's crazy. It's sad."
New streetlights had just been installed in the area, the resident assumed for safety reasons, but commented that the new precaution didn't go very far.
"They just put in these horrendous LED lights that light up the whole street, but then this happens in broad daylight," she said.
Police still are investigating the incident.
