District office names
Bonnie Akers has been named the state Department of Transportation's district office Employee of the Month for August 2014.
Akers is a key member of the district's Fiscal Unit. She has a reputation for being a reliable employee who can be counted on to provide the unit with accurate information, according to a news release.
She is well organized, which enables her to recall information quickly. She is a team player and is always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need of assistance. She has been recognized for her excellent work ethic and attitude, the news release said. A large portion of her responsibilities is to process reimbursement payments for engineering and construction of local road and bridge projects in the district's nine counties. She has especially made her mark in Marcellus invoice processing, the news release said.
Akers' work is reviewed by Central Office, which produces a monthly summary report that determines if the invoices were sent out in a timely fashion and whether there were any errors with the invoices. Bonnie excels at producing invoices by the deadline and with no errors.
Her work is thorough and timely. She is a critical part of the Fiscal Unit and is appreciated by her co-workers for the excellent job she does. She also has been a supporter of the district Red Cross Blood Drive.
Akers, a nine-year PennDOT employee, lives in Hughesville. She is a Marine Corps mom, with a son Ryan, who is stationed in North Carolina and is preparing to deploy to Afghanistan, and a daughter Ashley, who is married to a Marine and is living in Japan where he is stationed.
