For the second year, Susquehanna Bank will partner with ice cream parlors to serve "Stellar Ice Cream" and plans to donate for each cone or dish served to help children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Through Labor Day, Sept. 1, Stellar Ice Cream can be found at nine ice cream shops in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.
For each serving, the bank will donate $1 to local Make-A-Wish chapters.
Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children diagnosed with serious medical conditions.
"We're once again thrilled to contribute to such a worthy organization as Make-A-Wish, which brightens the lives of children facing serious health challenges," Susquehanna Bank CEO Andrew Samuel said.
"Stellar Ice Cream is a fun way to not only beat the heat this summer, but make a difference in the life of a child."
Locally, Eder's Ice Cream, Route 187, Montoursville, will participate in the fundraiser.
Inspired by Susquehanna's "Stellar checking account" - which allows customers to earn cash rewards - Stellar Ice Cream is a delectable combination of creamy mint ice cream, crushed Andes candies, gold sprinkles and chocolate chips.
Each ingredient in the ice cream has a backstory:
The mint green ice cream represents the cash earned by using the Stellar checking account.
The mint Andes chocolate candies represent the bank's "fresh approach to banking."
Gold sprinkles symbolize the ability to "brighten a child's life with every purchase."
Susquehanna Bank, donated $3.7 million to charitable organizations in 2013.
Donations will benefit the Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia, Philadelphia and the Susquehanna Valley, Mid-Atlantic (Maryland) and New Jersey chapters.
