Albert L. "Al" Bilby, 73, of English Center, went to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his loving family at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Monday, Aug. 25, 2014.
He was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Avis, the son of Phyllis and Franklin Emert. He was adopted and raised by Oliver and Margaret (Dullen) Bilby.
Al was a 1959 Jersey Shore High School graduate.

Early in his life he was employed by Woolrich and later with Central Cable Co. in Jersey Shore. He retired from Alcan Cable after 35 years of employment.
Al was also a well-known deputy and hunter safety course instructor with the PA Game Commission for 25 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman, gun enthusiast, trap shooter in the Alcan League and hunter. Al was a former Midget League and Little League coach and enjoyed NASCAR and skiing. He was also an avid motorcyclist and a member and past director of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association Chapter M of Williamsport where he was currently the treasurer.
Al and his wife Mary enjoyed riding their motorcycles so much that they visited every state in the continental U.S.
His survivors include his wife, Mary M. Winters, of English Center and his three children, Jeanette "Jet" (Randy) Wandell, of Lock Haven, Michael (Jane) Bilby, of Cheltenham and Corry (Jennifer) Bilby, of Lititz; his mother-in-law, Mary L. Winters, of English Center; his grandchildren, Jennifer Keen, Bryce and Faith Wandell, Georgia and Adam Bilby, Cody and Emily Bilby; a stepgrandson, Peter Wandell; a cousin, Virginia McCormick; along with sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Al was also fond of his black lab Jess.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Carl, Leroy "Shorty" and Arnold Bilby; sister, Marguerite Laubscher; stepfather, Joe Smith; and grandson Wesley L. Keen Jr.

Friends and relatives are invited to Al's Life Celebration service beginning with a visitation Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Nippenose Fellowship Bible Church, 92 Schoolhouse Road, Jersey Shore. Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. David McCoy officiating. Burial will be in English Center Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.
