What is your lasting impression of Joe Paterno?

  1. A great man who did great things for sports, academia and the development of young men.
  2. A great man who, unfortunately, could not leave his life's when he should have, and as a result made a sad misstep that will forever stain his legacy.
  3. A great man who nonetheless was prone to arrogance, much of it obscured by many achievements, but some of it unseemly to much of the world outside of Penn State.

Polls of this controversial nature are useless. All they serve to do is create hits and more controversy. There is no right or wrong way to poll someone's life, and it certainly cant be done with several vague picks.

Mine was one of the deleted comments. Instead of deleting it they should have taken the poll down and either written a decent set options that allowed for the expression of a broad range of views or found something else to have a poll about.

Badly handled Mr Editor. I thought the Gazette was better than this! I wonder how long this post will last?

I second JoeSkep. How can a newspaper delete legitimate comments that are simply pointing out the poor wording of the poll. The second answer doesn't even make sense. What a joke.

Eliminate this poll. Who writes this garbage? Don't take my comment down! How could a newspaper censor legitimate comments? Don't delete comments...hire a competent poll writer.

The second answer is what I would choose. I think maybe the first sentence should have read "life's work". I understand the meaning of the question and responses. I feel Joe was a good man who simply stayed on too long, while things around him began to spin out of control. At least I hope that was the case.

I don't even understand what the second option is.

None of the above.
