Most area companies are on wage freezes (or worse). Cost of living increases are great when times are good. The bigger question is how can the city be in such turmoil? Hotel permits have been issued like they are going out of style. It is frustrating to see a city that has experienced over building a century ago not learn from its past. I really hope there are plans in place as to what will happen to the dozen hotels once they become vacant as well.
