Your reaction to the Zimmerman trial?

  1. The death of Trayvon Martin is tragic, but the evidence was not there to convict George Zimmerman, a Neighborhood Crime Watch person acting on his responsibilities and in self-defense.
  2. The decision to acquit Zimmerman is questionable and I suspect has racial overtones.
  3. The case should never been brought and would not have been without President Obama irresponsibly injecting himself into it after local police had determined there wasn't sufficient evidence to merit charges against Zimmerman.

Why do the results not surprise me?

Me either. The State of Florida had enough to go to trial. Acquittals happen everywhere. This is another skewed survey. The first option should be " The death of Trayvon Martin is tragic, but the evidence was not there to convict Zimmerman".

The state of Florida didn’t have any evidence to convict him because he did nothing illegal. Read the facts of the case and not what the media tells you and you will find this out for yourself. The only race issues were what the media, al sharpton, Jessie Jackson, the NAACP and the president put into your heads. How funny that we as a society are more worried about the implications of this one verdict when so many more people are being murdered in philly, Detroit, Chicago, California and every other city in the US. STOP MAKING THIS A RACIAL ISSUE MEDIA, at most this is to dumb people who did dumb things and someone died because of it.

Zimmerman should be given a medal and a parade.

Smid-- I don't see where anyone posting here has mentioned race...yet.

Spike -- C'mon. Having "enough to go to trial" is not a threshold any responsible prosecutor should use to bring a case to trial. When you consider you have only one shot at a defendant, the County prosecutor's office had already correctly determined not to prosecute, and the evidence you have is what we saw at trial, this was a case that should not have seen the inside of a courtroom...even if Zimmerman had been guilty.

@aretesancus, My comment to race had to do with option "B" above and the 15% that agreed with that.

Why do the results not surprise me?

Maybe because the folks responding to this poll have a clue about what happened at the trial and don't rely on talking heads to form an opinion for them?

Obama overstepped his boundaries as Commander in Chief, period! Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Barack Obama together helped make it about race. Something that should never have been.

The results don't surprise me and I completely agree with the 61%

Spike the state of FL did NOT have the evidence to go to trial and that is exactly why the special prosecutor dismissed the grand jury before even presenting the case. She said she didn't need them to file the charges. According to many legal experts, this is usually done when the prosecution is not comfortable with the facts and not confident an indictment would be returned. The trial was nothing more than a political sham and it brought justice to Travon's family and it destroyed Zimmerman's life.
