I guess I'm first.Marijuana and guns, this is going to get messy! I'm for the legalization of pot,I've been waiting 45 years and tried of hiding in the corner to smoke it! If there are any Bible-Bangers out there can you tell me why God made a "WEED" that will make you feel good? Did 'He' screwup or was this meant to be? By the way, here comes the taxman!

These people that advocate the legalizing of mj are the same people crying about the health consequences and health care expenses of of tobacco smoking.

Steelman: That's kind of a mute point since two states have already legalized it and more to come but, it wouldn't hurt if he did.

Garben, do you currently fire employees who drink alcohol on their own time? If not you will have a problem legally justifying firing those that do the same with marijuana if it is made legal.

But it is still a Federal offense.

Well Capricorn if they test positive for alcohol yes they get fired and I don't care when they smoked if the test is positive they get terminated period . We've had to fire 2 employees in the past who tested positive for alcohol in the morning after they'd been drinking. We have a zero tolerance policy. If the insurance companies would be willing to pay for a hurt employee under the influence then maybe are stand wouldn't be as strong however with premiums well over $500,000 a year I say no to drugs period

If you find a insurance carrier who is ok with employees who have marijuana in their bodies let me know ill call and ask if they are cool with it and also if it becomes legal by means of the state how do you control all those on probation?

Garben, I'm just letting you know what's coming down the line. A colorado appeals court ruled that employers may fire employees for failed drug tests for marijuana only because it is still against federal law. However, Obama has already stated his opinion regarding the fedral law and I predict within afew years that law willbe abolished seeing as more states are looking to legalize it. Once that happens, you will have a tough time legally firing someone for recreational use off duty if you can't prove they were impaired at work.

I honestly think it will come down to the companies drug policy as I said if its a zero tolerance policy then it doesn't matter you can have it in your system nor can you have alcohol the fact you did it a week ago at home well I guess your going to have to prove since your testing positive that its still not effecting your body somehow until its totally gone from your system. Who knows where it goes
