Houston upsets No. 5 Louisville at home
HOUSTON — No. 5 Louisville struggled to contain Houston early, as the Houston Cougars shocked the No. 5-ranked Cardinals, 36-10, at home on Thursday night.
Houston (9-2) built a 31-0 lead going into the half against Louisville (9-2). Lamar Jackson was limited to 211 passing yards, going 20 for 43 with a touchdown in the third quarter. Jackson also had just 33 rushing yards on 25 carries.
Houston was led by Greg Ward Jr., who was 25 for 44 for 233 passing yards and two touchdowns. Chance Allen had a team-high 105 receiving yards for Houston on just four receptions and also scored a touchdown. Duke Catalon had 68 receiving yards on nine receptions and two touchdowns.
The loss dealt a big blow to Louisville in terms of the College Football Playoffs.
