Local roundup: Muscala leads Bucknell men past Colgate
Bucknell’s Mike Muscala had another big night with 25 points, 10 rebounds, seven blocks and four assists, and brand new 1,000-point scorer Joe Willman made some clutch plays down the stretch to lift Bucknell to a 73-59 road win over Colgate on Wednesday night at Cotterell Court. The Bison improved to 15-3 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League, while Colgate dropped to 6-11, 0-2.
Bryson Johnson added 15 points, Cameron Ayers had 14 and Willman 10 for the Bison, who are off to their second-best 18-game start in program history.
Anthony Martin had 28 points and sophomore Chris Foreman added a career-high 21, but Lycoming fell at Albright, 83-78.
East Stroudsburg dominated the boards in rolling to a 93-69 PSAC East win over Mansfield in Decker Gymnasium.
Mansfield was outrebounded 45-25 in the game and turned the ball over 21 times.
In women’s basketball, Alyssa DeRichie scored a career-high 18 points but a late East Stroudsburg run led the Warriors to a 66-59 win at Decker Gymnasium.
Bucknell’s Audrey Dotson hit a buzzer-beating basket and the Bison held on to beat Colgate at Sojka Pavilion, 53-51.
In wrestling, Williamsport received falls from Zarin Hornberger (160), Darren Holloway (285), Roshaun Cooley (113) and Dustin Heiser (145), but the Millionaires fell to Selinsgrove, 42-33.
In boys basketball, Nick Cevette and Troy Adriance combined to score 28 points as Williamson downed Liberty, 58-33. Hunter Huyett chipped in 14 points in the win.
Colton Harer and Jake Miller each scored 21 points as Montgomery defeated Bucktail, 62-50. Chuck Probst scored 19 points to pace Bucktail in the loss.
Behind 17 points from Noah Huff, Towanda defeated Mansfield, 53-32. Reece Correll scored a team-high 11 points to lead Mansfield in the loss.
In girls basketball, Megan Trenholm scored 18 points and St.?John Neumann beat South Williamsport, 47-44.
Christina Perles scored 17 points as Mount Carmel took down Montoursville, 39-24. Mount Carmel held Montoursville to just six second-half points in the win.
Behind 24 points from Tay Parker, Warrior Run cruised to a 61-26 win over Hughesville. Abby Fisher added 14 and Steph Shamburg scored 12 as the Defenders improved to 7-5 on the season.
McKayla Cochran and Andi Leach eached scored 12 points as Galeton defeated Oswayo Valley, 54-24. Galeton didn’t allow any Oswayo player to score more than six points in the 30-point victory.
Three players reached double figures for Cowanesque Valley as the Indians defeated North Penn, 50-31. Josh Nudd led the way with a game-high 12 points for Cowanesque Valley while Bryant Painter added 11 and Dakota Corwin had 10.
In women’s basketball, Lycoming junior Julia Antonelli hit a layup with 10 seconds left to give the Warriors a 54-52 win over Albright. Antonelli finished with 15 points for Lycoming. Milton graduate Ali Derr added six points, five rebounds and two blocks.
