Crosscutters rally with 5 runs in 7th

The Williamsport Crosscutters scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to overcome a three-run deficit and defeat the Auburn Doubledays in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader.

Teams play just seven innings during scheduled doubleheaders.

Game 2 of the doubleheader was suspended in the top of the third inning with the Crosscutters trailing 1-0 but threatening with runners on second and third with one out.

The Crosscutters were shut out for six innings in Game 1 before scoring five times in the seventh.

Andrew Pullin and Andrew Knapp began the seventh with back-to-back walks and Pullin scored on a Logan Pierce single to avoid the shutout. Knapp scored on a passed ball to make it a 3-2 game and after Justin Parr was hit by a pitch, Gustavo Martinez singled to load the bases. A third walk in the inning by Auburn pitching forced in the tying run and a Dylan Cozens single drove home the game-winning run.

Lino Martinez pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his first save of the season.

Ramon Oviedo (1-0) picked up the win.
