Cutters fall in extras

The Williamsport Crosscutters rallied to tie the Connecticut Tigers with two runs in the ninth inning on Wednesday night, but fell to the Tigers, 5-4, in 11 innings in a game that was delayed 59 minutes at the start because of rain.

The Crosscutters trailed 3-0 before scoring a run in the top of the fourth inning on an Andrew Pullin RBI single that scored Jiandido Tromp. Williamsport got another run back in the seventh inning on an RBI groundout by Logan Pierce that scored Zach Green. The Tigers added a run on in the bottom of the seventh on a bases-loaded walk that scored Patrick Leyland to make it 4-2.

Williamsport tied the game in the top of ninth inning. Andrew Knapp singled in Green to make it a 4-3 deficit. Gustavo Martinez then scored on a wild pitch by Steve Sitz to tie the game at 4-4.

The teams will continue their series tonight in Connecticut.
