Cozens, Pullin homer for Cutters
Andrew Pullin and Dylan Cozens hit third-inning home runs and the Williamsport Crosscutters defeated the Jamestown Jammers, 5-4, at Bowman Field on Friday night.
Pullin and Dylan Cozens each hit home runs as part of a five-run third inning. Pullin hit a solo shot, his third of the season, before Cozens delivered a three-run home run for the 5-1 lead.
The home run was Cozens’ seventh.
Jamestown got a run back in the top of the fifth inning against Williamsport starter Yacksel Rios. The Jammers got a sacrifice fly to left field off of the bat of Adam Frazier that plated Erich Weiss to cut the Cutters lead to 5-2.
Jamestown made things interesting in the top of the ninth inning as it pulled within one run at 5-4 against Jon Musser.
Tyler Buckley relieved Musser in the ninth and recorded the final two outs for his third save of the season. Musser, who relieved Rios in the fifth, picked up his first win of the season.
Rios was charged with two earned runs. He struck out two and walked three. The three Cutters pitchers combined to walk eight Jammers.
The Crosscutters finished with just five hits off three Jamestown pitchers.
Dovydas Neverauskas (4-4) took the loss for the Jammers.
The Cutters play at Jamestown tonight and Sunday.
