Cutters’ offense explodes in 2nd

Williamsport’s Gustavo Martinez delivered a bases-clearing double during a seven-run second inning on Wednesday night as the Crosscutters defeated the State College Spikes, 9-1, in the final meeting of the season between the rivals.

Martinez finished with two hits and three RBIs.

Sam Dove hit his first home run of the season for Williamsport in the second inning.

Yacksel Rios pitched five strong innings to earn the win and improve to 5-2 on the season. Felix Santos threw four shutout innings and was credited with his third save. Rios struck out five and Santos three.

Ben O’Shea (3-2) took the loss.

Williamsport returns to Bowman Field tonight and will finish a suspended game with the Batavia Muckdogs before playing a seven-inning game.
