Cutters salvage win in road trip finale
Williamsport scored six runs in the first inning and Andrew Pullin hit his second home run of the season as the Crosscutters salvaged the finale of a six-game road trip with a 7-2 win over Vermont.
Pullin finished with three hits and scored a pair of runs for the Cutters, who recorded 11 hits. Dylan Cozens and Justin Parr each had a pair of hits for Williamsport.
Five Crosscutters pitchers combined on an eight-hitter. Yacksel Rios threw five solid innings, allowing just one run on five hits. Rios earned the win, his third of the season.
Julio Reyes, Felix Santos, Matt Soren and Rob Marcello each threw an inning of relief combining to allow just one unearned run.
The win by the Crosscutters snapped a five-game losing streak heading into the New York-Penn League All-Star break. The Cutters enter the All-Star break seven games behind Jamestown in the Pinckney Division. They’re also five games behind State College in the Wild Card standings.
Zach Green, Jiandido Tromp, Gabriel Lino and Tyler Buckley will participate in the All-Star game Tuesday.
