Four Cutters make NYPL All-Star game

The rosters for the New York-Penn League All-Star Game have been released for both the American and National League squads, who will face off on Tuesday, August 13 at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Connecticut, home of the Connecticut Tigers.

Four Williamsport Crosscutters were named to the NL All-Stars; RHP Tyler Buckley, C Gabriel Lino, OF Jiandido Tromp, and 3B Zach Green.

Buckley was taken by the Phillies in the 27th round of the 2013 draft from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. He has a record of 0-0 with 2 saves and a 0.93 ERA. Buckley has allowed just 2 earned runs this season in 19.1 innings and has 18 strikeouts.

Lino was originally signed by the Baltimore Orioles organization in 2010. He was acquired by the Phillies in June of 2012 as part of the Jim Thome trade. In the midst of one of his best minor league seasons, he is hitting .268 with 4 home runs and 23 RBI’s.

Tromp who hails from Aruba, was signed by the Phillies as a free agent in August, 2011. He currently leads the Crosscutters in average (.302) and on-base percentage (.368). He appeared in 13 games for Williamsport in 2012.

Green was selected by the Phillies in the 3rd round of the 2012 draft out of Jesuit High School (CA). He is currently hitting .268 with 8 home runs and 28 RBI’s and currently leads the NYPL in numerous offensive categories including home runs (8), doubles (16), extra base hits (25) and runs (33). He ranks second in slugging percentage (.515) and total bases (85).
