Local roundup: Montoursville girls score late, beat Lewisburg

In girls soccer, Montoursville’s Carly Mill scored a goal with under a minute remaining off an assist from Kirsten O’Malley as the Warriors defeated Lewisburg, 1-0. Mill finished with a header after O’Malley’s cross. Marissa Folk had four saves for Montoursville (7-1, 5-1 HAC-I).

Loyalsock tied unbeaten Southern Columbia, 1-1. Allie Pagana scored for the?Lancers.

Warrior Run’s Erika Landis scored twice and Olivia George had a goal and assist as the Defenders defeated Mifflinburg, 3-1. Coach Jen Allen credited Gabby Heiss, Laura Bastian, Madison Bennett and McKenna Beyer for playing a solid game in front of goalie Mackenzie Hays.

Miranda Young scored twice and Olivia Lorson added a goal as South Williamsport tied Benton, 3-3. Jen Jackson and Maddy Plummer had assists for South (4-1-2).

Williamsport defeated Midd-West 2-1. Williamsport’s Amy Southard scored the second Millionaires’ goal to break the tie.

Hughesville scored two first-half goals as it defeated Jersey Shore 2-1. Olivia Braumbeck and Melanie Santo scored for the Spartans.

Mackenna Miller netted two goals as Milton defeated Shikellamy, 2-0. .

Wellsboro defeated Williamson 11-0. Lindsey Graver and Sarah Ingerick each had a hat trick and Kelsey Logan added a goal and three assists.

In girls tennis, Olivia Gorg and Allison Mattucci did not drop a game in winning their No. 1 doubles match in straight sets as Hughesville defeated Central Columbia, 4-1. The Spartans (11-1) face undefeated Bloomsburg today in a showdown for first place in the HAC-II.

Williamsport defeated Jersey Shore 5-0 to stay undefeated. Isabel Bauer won all but one game in her No. 2 singles match.

South Williamsport swept the doubles and received a win from Daisy Rundio at No. 3 singles to beat Muncy, 3-2.

Bloomsburg defeated St. John Neumann 5-0 as Neumann had to forfeit No. 2 doubles.

Selinsgrove defeated Milton 3-2 as Selinsgrove won all three singles matches.

Autumn Hall won her No. 3 singles match as Montoursville beat Shikellamy 5-0.

Towanda won both doubles matches in a 5-2 win over Liberty. Erica Place won her singles and doubles match for Towanda.

Cowanesque Valley won four of five singles matches in a 5-2 win over Gaelton.

In men’s soccer, Penn College was shut out by Wilkes 5-0. Five different players scored for Wilkes.

Connor Malarney netted two goals for West Chester as it beat Lock Haven, 3-1. Asher Klahold scored the only goal for Lock Haven.

Penn College senior goalkeeper David Munn was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 15. In the team’s 2-0 week, Munn recorded two shutouts and made six saves.

In women’s soccer Misericordia defeated Lycoming, 8-1. Freshman Leanne Shaw netted her first career goal in the loss.

Rachel Jackson scored the only goal as West Chester defeated Lock Haven, 1-0.

Mansfield won its first game of the year as Danielle Shelters netted the only goal in a 1-0 win over Pitt-Johnstown.

In field hockey Taryn Schawillie scored the game-winning goal in overtime as Mansfield defeated IUP, 2-1.

In women’s volleyball, Penn College beat Scranton, 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-7). Loralee Lindemuth and Kaitlyn Bailey combined for 18 service aces.
