Football roundup: Bragalone sets South TD mark at Sayre

Dominick Bragalone scored 5 touchdowns, with 323 yards on 13 rushes, as South Williamsport won 47-12 Friday night at Sayre. Bragalone has 28 touchdowns for the season, breaking the South record of 27 by Brett Zalonis in 1993, when the Mounties reached the PIAA final.

Bragalone also has 1,926 yards on 146 carries. Ian Nicklaus led South with 16 tackles, while John Peters added 11. Ryan Seagrave also returned a fumble 58 yards for a score.

North Penn 34, Wyalusing 17

At Blossburg, Dayton Wood caught 7 passes for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns as North Penn beat Wyalusing, 34-17. He also had two interceptions.

The Panthers also intercepted Wyalusing 5 times, limiting the Rams to just 3 completions.

At Westfield, Cowanesque Valley running back Brandon Whitesell ran for a career-high 259 yards and three touchdowns. Whitesell topped the 1,000-yard mark and has the most carries by a CV running back since the program was reinstated in 2004.

Mike Presto ignited the CV defense, making a game-high 11 tackles, three for losses, while adding a sack and a punt block. Ethan Mead returned a kickoff 85 yards for another CV score as the Indians (2-5) snapped a five-game losing streak.
