ROUNDUP: Lewisburg boys earn top soccer seed

Lewisburg’s boys soccer team was the lone area team to earn a No. 1 seed for the District 4 playoffs, garnering the top spot in the Class AA?field. Warrior Run earned the No. 3 seed in the Class AA?field. Both teams received a first-round bye.

In the Class A boys tournament, No. 8 Loyalsock and No. 9 South Williamsport face each other in a first-round game at Central Columbia on Tuesday at 3 p.m. No. 3 Wellsboro plays No. 14 St. John Neumann at Balls Mills on Wednesday at 5 p.m., and No. 12 Muncy plays No. 5 Meadowbrook Christian on Wednesday at Loyalsock at 7 p.m.

In the Class A girls field, No. 7 South Williamsport got the highest seed of any local team and faces No. 10 Bloomsburg at Loyalsock at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. No. 8 Loyalsock plays No. 9 East Juniata at Central Columbia on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Montoursville earned the No. 3 seed in the Class AA?girls field and plays Danville at Loyalsock on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Warrior Run plays Selinsgrove at Loyalsock on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

In the District 4 Class AA field hockey playoffs, Lewisburg earned the No. 3 seed and hosts Central Columbia on Thursday. Selinsgrove earned the top seed in the field.

Lock Haven’s field hockey team exploded for five goals and the Lady Eagles recorded their second consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference win by blanking host La Salle, 5-0. Nakira Downes was the spark in the attack as she recorded a hat trick.

Bucknell lost to New Hampshire, 3-0. Senior goalkeeper Erica Perrine was tested early by the Wildcats, including a direct shot off of a penalty corner that Perrine kept out of the Bison net with a diving save. She finished with four saves.
