Roundup: Loyalsock, Hughesville, Bucktail teams in D4 AA girls tennis doubles semis

The District 4 Class AA girls tennis doubles semifinals are set as the second round and quarterfinals were completed Monday at the West Branch Tennis Club.

The semifinals will begin at 2 Wednesday at the West Branch Tennis Club, with the finals to follow. Bucktail’s Maria Morgan and Abby Ransom will play Bloomsburg’s Ivy-Rose Kramer and Emily Wawroski in one semifinal, and Loyalsock’s Kim Levy and Sarah Malone will play Hughesville’s Courtney McGowan and Kierra Croucher in the other.

The Bucktail duo won one match Monday, while the Hughesville pair won two. The champion and runner-up teams advance to the PIAA championships Nov. 1-2 at the Hershey Racquet Club.

Levy and Malone will also play for District 4 champion Loyalsock today in the PIAA Class AA team first round vs. District 11 champion Moravian Academy at 2 today at the West Branch Tennis Club.

In women’s volleyball, a double-double by senior Katelyn McKillop helped Lycoming win 20th match, 25-19, 25-18, 25-22 at Arcadia. It’s Lyco’s first consecutive 20-win seasons since 1998-99. The team also clinched its third straight winning conference record and will play as the No. 5 seed in the Commonwealth tournament beginning Nov. 4.
