Roundup: Warrior Run girls win at Shore

Warrior Run improved to 8-4 on the season after a 2-0 win at Jersey Shore on Tuesday.

Muncy trounced Montgomery, 7-1, following a great performance from Carley DeVore, who scored four goals and had an assist.

A second-half goal stood up as Athens beat Wellsboro, 1-0.

Williamsport outshot Danville Wednesday but could not find the back of the net as Danville blanked it, 2-0. Williamsport had 12 shots on goal.

Tyler Dugan scored with less then 3 minutes remaining to give Gaelton a 1-0 win over Wellsboro.

In girls cross country, Teri Stoner’s 22:46 led the pace as Montoursville swept a home meet with Sullivan County, Central Columbia, Hughesville, and Shamokin.

Lewisburg improved to 18-1 with wins over Loyalsock (15-50), Jersey Shore (15-49), Warrior Run (15-50) and Shikellamy (22-36). Warrior Run and Loyalsock didn’t have enough runners and lost to Lewisburg, Jersey Shore and Shikellamy by 15-50 scores. The Bulldogs, who were led by Beatrice Ferguson, also fell to Shikellamy (21-34).

The Green Dragons placed four in the Top 5, including second-place finisher Blake Baylor at 20:35. Corinne Thomas finished seventh for the Defenders.

In boys cross country, Tommy Choplick’s second-place finish led Sullivan County as it swept a meet at Montoursville with Central Columbia, Shamokin, South Williamsport, and Hughesville.

Lewisburg improved to 15-4 with a sweep of Jersey Shore (15-50), Shikellamy (17-44), Warrior Run (25-30) and Loyalsock (15-50). Three Green Dragons finished in the Top 5. Warrior Run’s Spencer Williamson won the meet in a time of 17:46. The Defenders defeated Shikellamy, Loyalsock and Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore, minus its top three runners, lost to Lewisburg (15-50), Shikellamy (17-42) and Warrior Run 15-50. The Bulldogs beat Loyalsock (18-49). Kegan Wagner led the Bulldogs, finishing in 20:35.

In girls tennis, Milton’s Leah Tillinghast topped Shikellamy’s Tracy Knorr in No. 1 singles competition, helping lead Black Panthers’ to their seventh win.

In men’s soccer, Lock?Haven was shut out 2-0 on in non-conference action by visiting Cedarville.

In women’s volleyball, Mansfield High School graduate Taryn Rumsey moved into sixth place on Elmira’s kills list with 1,372 in a 3-0 win at Penn College.
