GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – Ben Brackney pumped in four 3-point field goals in the first half to spark Bucknell to a 77-64 win over Albany in men’s basketball on Saturday night.

Brackney, who finished with 22 points to lead all scorers, helped the Bison (3-2) to a 51-38 lead at intermission. He was 6 of 10 from beyond the arc. Bucknell was 29 of 53 from the field as a team.

Cameron Ayers added 15 and Steven Kaspar and Brian Fitzpatrick added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Peter Hooley had 21 points to lead the Great Danes (2-3) while Sam Rowley added 15 points and 10 rebounds and D.J. Evans had 13 points before fouling out.

Bucknell led by as many as 17 in the second half. Albany rallied, but could not cut the lead to fewer than 10 points

Williamsport graduate Dontahe Jordan scored a team-high 18 points as Bloomsburg University’s men’s basketball team beat Lock Haven, 62-57. Wali Hepburn led Lock Haven with 18 points, and Kasheef Festus had 15 points.

Joe Bell scored game-high 29 points to become the 25th player in Mansfield history to reach the milestone, but Mansfield came up short in a 103-92 loss to West Chester.

Junior Marrysa Moyer recorded her third double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, but Lock Haven women’s basketball team fell, 66-62, to visiting Bloomsburg University. Loyalsock’s Sami Lane scored seven points and added four assists for the Bald Eagles.

Jena Matter and Katie Fitzpatrick each recorded double-doubles and Mansfield had five players score in double-figures, but West Chester held on for an 84-75 win. Mansfield recorded 28 offensive rebounds in the loss.

Four Bucknell players scored in double digits lifting the Bison over Cornell, 72-59. Shelby Romine and Claire Maree O’Bryan each scored 18 points for the Bison.

Freshman Seth Lansberry won all his matches at 149 pounds to lead Lycoming wrestling team at the Mount Union Duals. The Warriors beat Muskingum, 46-0, but fell to fifth-ranked Messiah, 28-13, 11th-ranked Waynesburg, 25-9, and 29th-ranked Mount Union, 24-12.

Lansberry dominated en route to running his record to 9-1, as he posted a 7-2 win over Messiah’s Greg Kabakjian, a 3-2 win over Waynesburg’s Shane Foster, a pin in 1:20 against Muskingum’s Ben Barnhart-Sullivan and a 3-2 win over Mount Union’s Ben Kazimar.

Lock Haven senior Alex Monroe capped his brilliant career in style, finishing third at the 2013 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, held today at the Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex in Spokane, Washington.
