Loyalsock duo wins match at states

Loyalsock’s District 4 Class AA doubles champions Kim Levy and Sarah Malone were the only area entry to win a match Friday at the PIAA?girls tennis championships at the Hershey Racquet Club.

The duo beat Beaver’s Moriah Bridges and Mattie Taylor, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the first round before falling to Mara Trifoi and Caroline Pattillo of Wyomissing, the District 3 champions in the quarterfinals, 7-6(7), 3-6, 6-2.

Loyalsock’s District 4 Class AA singles champion Pam Niditch fell 6-4, 6-4 to Sewickley Academy’s Sidney Miggantz, the District 7 runner-up.

Bucktail’s District 4 Class AA doubles runners-up Maria Morgan and Abby Ransom of Bucktail fell 6-2, 6-2 to Amy Cheng and Jappman Monga of Sewickley Academy, the District 7 champions.

Williamsport’s Maggie Manchester, the District 2-4 Class AAA singles champion, fell 6-1, 6-1 to Marlys Bridgham of Pine Richland, the District 7 runner-up.

Jersey Shore’s Sara Danley and Erin Engel, the District 2-4 Class AAA doubles champions, fell 6-0, 6-1 to Maddy Adams and Tina Li of North Allegheny, 6-0, 6-1.

The tournament concludes Saturday with the semifinals and the finals.
