South girls earn PIAA soccer bid

South Williamsport earned a spot in the PIAA Class A girls soccer playoffs with a 2-0 victory over Troy Saturday in the District 4 consolation game.

Miranda Young scored once in each half for the Mounties (15-5-2), who will play Richland of District 6 Tuesday evening in Hollidaysburg.

“We came out on fire, then dropped off a little, but the second half was very controlled and they did what they had to do,” said South coach Liz Deljanovan.

South held Troy to 3 shots, thanks to a defensive effort by Olivia Lorson, among others.

“She really pushed when she could, but I credit the whole defense,” said Deljanovan. “They’ve really been clicking.”
