Local roundup: Bucknell men beat Kent State

Brian Fitzpatrick scored 16 points as Bucknell overcame Kent State 66-59 and snapped its 13-game home winning streak on Wednesday night.

Cameron Ayers made a 3-pointer with 4:53 to give Bucknell (3-4) the lead for good.

A free throw from Charles Cooper with 24 seconds left helped lift Alvernia to a 67-66 Commonwealth Conference win over Lycoming.

Michael Rudy had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors (4-2, 1-1 Commonwealth).

Former Sullivan County standout Sharif Welton had nine points as Penn State Mont Alto defeated Penn College 82-56. Former Williamsport Millionaire Thomas Ross led Penn College with 16 points.

Whis Grant scored 24 points and Rasheed Moore added 20 and 16 rebounds as East Stroudsburg stayed undefeated with a 102-87 win over Lock Haven.

In women’s basketball, Lycoming defeated Alvernia, 65-61.

Senior Julia Antonelli led the Warriors (2-3 overall, 1-1 Commonwealth) with 18 points.

Lock Haven fell on the road to East Stroudsburg, 75-67.

Hannah Gildea led Lock Haven (1-6, 0-3 PSAC) with a game-high 12 points. Sami Lane added 10 points and three rebounds.

Alexis Shaffer scored 13 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and Megan Dougherty scored a game-high 17 points as Penn State Mont. Alto defeated Penn College, 64-55. Niesha Williams scored 12 for the Lady Wildcats.

In college cross country, the Lock Haven University men’s cross country team swept the PSAC end-of-season awards.

For the third consecutive season, Alex Monroe was named the PSAC Men’s Athlete of the Year.

Korey Replogle was named the PSAC Men’s Freshman of the Year, while Aaron Russell was named PSAC Men’s Coach of the Year.
