ROUNDUP: PSU to host Hampton in CBI

The Penn State men’s basketball team has accepted an invitation to compete in the seventh annual College Basketball Invitational Tournament. The Nittany Lions (15-17, 6-12 B1G) will host Hampton (18-12, 13-3 MEAC) in the first round of the CBI on Wednesday in the Bryce Jordan Center. The tipoff time will be announced today

The PSU-Hampton winner will advance to the CBI Quarterfinal Round to play the winner of the Stony Brook vs. Siena winner next Monday, March 24.

The Lock Haven University baseball team powered its way to a 12-5 win Sunday over Minnesota-Crookston on Day 2 of LHU’s Spring Break trip to Clearwater, Fla. LHU and UMC were tied, 1-1, through three innings when the Bald Eagles bats caught fire. Lock Haven scored 11 runs over the next four innings to take a commanding lead.

Senior first baseman Tyler Yesensky went 2 for 4, including a double and a triple. He drove in a game-high four runs and scored twice to lead the LHU offense.

Lock Haven’s softball team dropped its final two games of a weekend trip to Virginia. Lock Haven opened the day with a 7-3 loss to Fairmont State and the Lady Eagles fell to No. 22 West Virginia Wesleyan, 7-2. Both Erica Pooler and Chelsea Edwards went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored in the loss to Fairmont State.
