Foursome earns trip to play at Sawgrass
The foursome of Marc Shefsky, Tim Mason, Shawn McQuay and T.J. Jackson won the TPC Sawgrass challenge portion of the 21st annual Hope Enterprises charity scramble golf tournament held Friday at White Deer.
The group earned a spot in the 72-hole National Finals at TPC Sawgrass, Feb. 25-March 1, 2015. TPC Sawgrass is the home of the PGA Tour’s Players Championship each May. This special challenge is sponsored by Liberty Mutual.
Friday marked the second consecutive year that the Hope Enterprises tournament was used as a qualifier for Liberty Mutual’s challenge, as last year a local foursome earned the right to play at Pinehurst earlier this year.
Teams eligible for the TPC Sawgrass challenge needed to play White Deer’s Challenge course, and were to have a verified team handicap index of 43.0 or higher with at least one player holding an index of 8.0 or lower. The challenge was then a scratch competition with each player contributing 3 tee shots per round.
The rest of the Friday’s tournament field played on the Challenge and Vintage courses to benefit Hope Enterprises, which seeks to provides services to disabled people of all ages.
