Road rout becomes third straight defeat

Jamestown scored four times in the first inning and then chased Williamsport Crosscutters starter Mitch Gueller after three batters without an out in a 5-run fifth inning, as the Jammers handed the Cutters their third straight loss, 9-3 Sunday at Jamestown.

Battling control issues all game, Gueller allowed six runs on seven hits and walked five in suffering his first loss of the season.

Williamsport led 1-0 after the top of the first when Cord Sandberg singled to extend his hit streak to 10, stole second, and scored on a Wilmer Oberto single.

Sandberg finished 3-for-5 with two doubles.

Justin Parr doubled home Rhys Hoskins in the sixth and Jan Hernandez homered in the eighth.

Jamestown scored in the first inning off two sacrifice flies and two bases-loaded walks.

Joey Denato was charged with Jamestown’s other three runs in the fifth. Erik Lunde hit a 3-run double and scored on a wild pitch.
