Cutters open trip with win

The Williamsport Cross-cutters won their second road game this season, 6-3 Tuesday night to start a 3-game swing at the Jamestown Jammers.

Aaron Brown singled home Cord Sandberg for the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, then Wilmer Oberto’s single scored Sandberg and Jiandido Tromp for two more runs in the ninth.

Calvin Rayburn allowed one hit over the final two innings for the save. Joe Denato pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings in relief of Preston Packrall for the win before Frank Rivas pitched a scoreless seventh.

Sandberg and Tromp each scored twice, while Tromp, Rhys Hoskins, and Oberto had multi-hit games.

Jamestown tied the game at 2-2 off Packrall when Carl Anderson singled home Tyler Filliben and scored on Jordan Luplow’s double.

The Cutters scored single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.

Jamestown tied it again in the fifth when Luplow singled home Filliben.

The Cutters continue tonight and Thursday at Jamestown before a July 4 home doubleheader starting at noon vs. Auburn.
