Guadalupe team to LLWS as Mexico champion

Guadalupe Linda Vista Little League from Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, earned a berth in the Little League World Series with a 12-6 victory Friday over Felix Arce LL of Mexicali, Baja California, in the Mexico regional title game in Monterrey.

The Guadalupe team went 8-0 in the 7-day tournament, winning its first 4 games by a combined 45-8 before one-run wins over one-run victories over Matamoros and Tijuana teams. Guadalupe beat El Granjero LL of Juarez in the semifinals.

The LLWS will be held Aug. 14-24 at Lamade and Volunteer Stadiums.

The LInda Vista LL qualified for the 2004 LLWS. Guadalupe sent different teams in 1998 and 2009.

Other 2014 qualifiers are Seoul LL from Seoul, South Korea, (Asia-Pacific region) Perth Metro Northern LL (Perth), Tokyo Kitasuna LL (Japan), and Coquicavoa LL from Maracaibo, Venezuela (Latin America). The Caribbean and Europe-Africa regions will be settled later this month, with the Canadian region in early August with the United States regionals. The US regional finals run Aug. 6-10 on ESPN channels.
