Scoreless streak at 19 innings

The Willliamsport Crosscutters lost 3-0 on Monday night at Batavia, extending their scoreless streak to 19 innings as they were shut out for the 10th time this season.

The loss also pushed the team to the brink of elimination in the New York-Penn League’s wild card chase, as their 31-38 record is 7 1/2 games worse than the wild-card leading Brooklyn Cyclones, who are 38-30 as the season heads into its final week.

Brooklyn holds a 2 1/2-game lead on second-place Connecticut in the wild card chase, with the Crosscutters one of 7 teams at least mathematically alive.

Chase Harris and Rhys Hoskins each had 2 hits in the loss. The Cutters had 8 hits, but none for extra bases as they stranded 8 runners.

Brandon Leibrandt allowed all 3 runs and 11 hits over 5 innings to take the loss. Edubray Ramos pitched 3 scoreless innings of relief, allowing 3 hits with 3 strikeouts.

K.J. Woods doubled and scored on a second-inning groundout for Batavia before Kevin Grove’s RBI double and Aaron Blanton’s RBI?single in the fifth.

The series ends tonight before the Cutters play two at State College before a 4-game homestand to finish the season.
