High school roundup: Williamsport girls defeat Lewisburg

Jaynell Robinson continued her big season, scoring 27 points as Williamsport thumped Lewisburg, 63-42 Saturday. Jahnae Hall-Gaddy complemented Robinson, scoring 14 points as the Millionaires (6-7) dominated inside. Chloe Jennings added nine points while Akilah McFadden had 19 for Lewisburg.

Milton’s Dani Lincoln and Maggie Wetzel combined to outscore Shikellamy themselves, as the Black Panthers defeated the Braves, 50-30. Wetzel scored a team-high 18 while Lincoln added 17. Shikellamy trailed Milton, 20-7, after the first quarter.

Whitney Earle scored 14 points as Cowanesque Valley won 47-27 at St. Joe’s Catholic in State College.

In boys basketball, Adam Szklanka posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to help Sullivan County defeat Bucktail, 49-42. Josh Knauff led Bucktail with 15 points. Derrick Long and Ryan Fantasky each scored 10 points for the Bucks.

Bryant Painter scored 26 points to help lead Cowanesque Valley to a 63-45 win over Galeton. Tyler Melko was two points away from a double-double, as he grabbed 11 boards to go with his eight points. Dakota Corwin added 14 points for the Indians.

Brody Smith scored a game-high 17 points, including three treys, while Eric Huling added 12 points of his own as Jersey Shore won 55-47 at Midd-West.

With Millville holding a slight 28-22 lead coming out of halftime, the Quakers offense built off an explosive third quarter to edge Montgomery, 63-47.

Ryan Emery scored 18 points to lead four double-digit scorers as Milton beat Selinsgrove, 64-43.

Noah Fagnano scored 10 points but Danville downed Montoursville, 75-46.

In wrestling, Warrior Run’s Jorge Guillen pinned Shamokin’s Garrett Zalar in 1:33 at 220 pounds to help Warrior Run rout Shamokin in high school wrestling, 60-19.

Central Mountain won four straight bouts by fall en route to a 62-9 win against State College. Gavin Caprio won for Central Mountain by pinning William Roeshot in 1:55 at 170 pounds.

In track and field at the Kevin Dare High School Invitational at Penn State, Williamsport had two Top 10 finishes. Connor Oldt finished third in the 60 meter high hurdles with a time of 8.61 while Kurt Danneker was eighth in the shot put thanks to a 40-foot, 10-inch throw.
