Local roundup: Robinson leads Williamsport girls to win

With 4:45 remaining, Williamsport’s?Jaynelle Robinson scored to put Williamsport ahead for good en route to a 48-43 win over Bellefonte. Robinson ended the game with a team-high 19 points.

Chloe?Jennings added 11 and?Jada Whaley added 10 for the?Millionaires.

Lewisburg outscored Milton by 13 in the second half as the Green Dragons won, 37-23. Grace Kelleher led Lewisburg with 14 points while Dani Lincoln and Courtney King had seven apiece for Milton.

Hughesville held Central Columbia to just four fourth-quarter points as it went on to win, 41-34. Carly Rogers led Hughesville with 10 points as Makenna Budman added nine.

Shayna McNamee scored a career-high 22 points while hitting five 3-pointers to lead Neumann to its fourth straight win, 63-41, over Millville. Megan Helminiak added 13 as Neumann outscored Millville by 13 in the second half.

Sarah Parrish led Sullivan County with 15 points, 17 rebounds, four steals and two blocks as the Griffins defeated?Benton, 52-28.

Ashley Faus added nine points and seven steals while Tori Schultz had seven points and seven steals. Kaiti Beinlich also had a double-double for Sullivan with 10 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four steals.

Tyler Melko and Bryant Painter combined for a 50-point performance to lead Cowanesque?Valley to a convincing win over Williamson, 75-42, in boys basketball.

Melko scored a team-high 26 points while Painter added 24. Cowanesque Valley also got 16 points out of Colton Vinluan.

Melko and Vinluan both posted double-doubles as well, as Melko had 15 rebounds – 11 defensive – and Vinluan had a team-best 17 rebounds. Melko also swiped away seven steals and added a block while leading the team with three assists.

A stifling first-quarter defensive effort helped propel Wellsboro to a rout of Towanda, 64-24, thanks to holding the Black Knights to zero first-quarter points.

Dalton?Prough led the offensive effort for Wellsboro, scoring a team-high 25 points as Wellsboro stormed out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. Prough had a double-double in the win, posting a team-high 10 rebounds, including seven defensive boards.

A 20-point performance from Ridge Moore helped lift Canton to a 47-37 win over Liberty, the second win of the season for Canton this year.

Brock Burleigh scored 28 points and Konnor Manikowski scored a career-high 20 points to lead Mansfield to a 70-63 come-from-behind win over Troy.

Manikowski hit two big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as Mansfield gained its first lead midway through the fourth. Mansfield outscored Troy 27-13 in the fourth.

Lycoming junior Olivia Manges led the Lycoming College women’s basketball team with 10 points, but the team fell victim to a sterling defensive effort by Messiah College, 65-31, at Brubaker Auditorium.

Princella McCullough led Mansfield with 10 points and eight rebounds in a 63-41 PSAC Crossover loss at Gannon. Katie Fitzpatrick’s four points moved the senior past Lynelle Mosely (2000-04) for ninth on the Mansfield all-time scoring list.

Lock Haven fell to Mercyhurst, 49-46. Rachael McDaniel led Lock Haven with 13 points. Livingston finished with 11 points, four steals and two assists.

Matt Tamanosky scored 17 of his team-high 18 points in a second half comeback attempt but it wouldn’t be enough as Mansfield dropped a 80-67 decision in a PSAC crossover contest to Gannon in men’s basketball.

Lock Haven dropped a road PSAC contest at Mercyhurst, 79-66. Leading the way for the Bald Eagles was Bootsie Walker with 19 points. Lamin Fulton had a career-best 18 points.

After 15 games without a player scoring 20 points in a game, two Lycoming College men’s basketball players hit the magic number as both freshman T.J. Duckett and sophomore Chris Wallace led the Warriors to a 74-62 win over Messiah College in MAC Commonwealth action at Brubaker Auditorium.

UMass Lowell defeated Hartford, 80-76, as redshirt sophomore Jahad Thomas, a Williamsport grad, had eight rebounds for the River Hawks.
