Lewisburg boys need OT to advance

With its season on the line and just four minutes roughly remaining in the game, Lewisburg knew it had to score to continue its postseason run as the defending state champions.

The Green Dragons don’t always need a ton of time on the scoreboard showing to strike.

In the 77th minute, Sam Rosevear took a Joey Bhangdia pass and sent it into the back of the net for the game-tying goal to force overtime.

From there, it was Adam Cole in the 87th minute who was fed a Bhangdia pass to give Lewisburg a 2-1 overtime victory over Lower Moreland in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals.

The Green Dragons advance to face Lansdale Catholic on Tuesday at a site and time to be determined. It’s Lansdale Catholic’s first state semifinal appearance since 2000, the same year Lewisburg won its first state championship.
