Local roundup: PC hoops swept on road; games postponed

Williamsport grad Alicia Ross had a team-high 25 points, but it wasn’t enough as Penn College lost on the road to Lancaster Bible, 86-47, in women’s basketball on Tuesday.

Jane Herman scored 15 for the Wildcats (1-9, 1-5 NEAC).

Penn College was held to just seven in the first quarter as Lan­caster Bible took an early 19-7 lead and led 48-29 at halftime.

• In men’s basketball, Penn College took a 2-point lead into the half, but a strong second-half perfor­mance by Lancaster Bible helped the Chargers beat the Wildcats, 70-54.

Mansfield grad Marquis Delgado led Penn College with 15 points and Erik Eichinger scored 11. Williamsport grad Thomas Ross added nine points.

• In wrestling, Whitehill Duals brackets were released on Tuesday for college wrestling, which will take place on Friday-Saturday at Lamade Gymnasium for the 29th annual tournament.

The tournament will feature four groups of four competing in a round-robin tournament on Friday, with winners advancing to the championship bracket Saturday.

Lycoming faces Wesleyan in the first round, Millikin in the second round and Waynesburg in the third round.

Central Mountain’s home swim meet against Williamsport scheduled for Tuesday was postponed until today at 6 at Lock Haven University.

Montoursville’s meet at Jersey Shore was postponed with no make-up date listed. Central Columbia’s meet at home against Lewisburg was postponed with no make-up date listed.

HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING

Williamsport’s home match against Hughesville was postponed from Tuesday until Tuesday, Jan. 17. The junior high match is set for 6 and the varsity match will begin at 7.

Central Columbia’s home wrestling meet against Milton was postponed and rescheduled for tonight.

Wellsboro’s wrestling match at Wyalusing was postponed from Tuesday until Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Warrior Run’s match at Benton is now tonight at 7.

Jersey Shore’s home game against Selinsgrove was postponed and was rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19, at 7:30.

Wellsboro’s game on Tuesday was postponed with no make-up date listed. Mansfield’s game at Towanda was postponed until tonight.

Sullivan County’s game against Bucktail was postponed until Monday, Feb. 6.

Shamokin’s home game against Central Mountain was postponed until today at 7:30 with junior varsity starting at 6.

South Williamsport’s game against Mount Carmel was postponed until Thursday at South Williamsport.

Cowanesque Valley’s game at North Penn-Liberty was postponed until today at 7:30 with varsity starting at 6.

The Muncy home game against St. John Neumann was postponed until Friday, Feb. 17 at 8.

The Loyalsock home game against Danville was postponed until Saturday, Feb. 4 at 7:30.

Montgomery’s home game against Millville was postponed until Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7:30.

Canton will play its makeup game with Northeast Bradford at NEB’s elementary school tonight at 7:30.

Williamson’s game at Sayre was rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 16 at 7:30.
