Local roundup: Warrior Run boys top Line Mountain; Thomas celebrated for 1,000 points at UMass-Lowell

Cody Rogers had 22 points, nine assists and eight rebounds while Luke Burrows scored 18 to lead Warrior Run to a 66-45 win over Line Mountain Monday in boys basketball. Gage Anzulavich narrowly missed on another triple-double as he had 10 points, eight blocks and seven rebounds.

Lewisburg outscored Mifflinburg 35-14 in the first half en route to a 64-41 win. Dylan Farronato led three Green Dragons in double-figures with 18 points while Sal Brown and Adam Cole scored 11 apiece.

Cameron St. James led Montgomery with 13 points but it wasn’t enough as the Red Raiders fell to Meadowbrook Christian, 58-41.

• In girls basketball, St. John Neumann led 34-15 at the half en route to a 53-37 win over St. Joseph’s. Shayna McNamee led Neumann with 14 points while Shelly Floyd added 12.

Lewisburg led 32-14 after three quarters before South Williamsport made a late run as the Green Dragons hung on for a 36-28 win. Grace Kelleher (14 points) and Emily Sholly (10 points, 11 rebounds) combined for 24 points for Lewisburg.

Makaya Shadle led with 17 points while Cortney Parsell added 15 as Galeton moved to 8-2 with its 62-21 win over Bucktail.

Andrea Shieve had 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead Williamson to a 43-41 win over Addison.

Riley Griffith scored 15 points to lead Mifflinburg past Hughesville, 50-33.

Unbeaten Montoursville scored at least 20 points in each of the first three quarters, led by Lauren O’Malley’s 25 for the game, in a 73-46 win at Wyoming Area.

Taylor Gessner’s 15 points led Meadowbrook Christian in a 47-15 win over Montgomery.

• In men’s basketball, on the heels of a career milestone, UMass Lowell men’s basketball standout and Williamsport graduate Jahad Thomas has been named both America East Player of the Week. Thomas, who helped lead the River Hawks to a 2-0 start in conference play last week, became the program’s 40th player ever to surpass 1,000 career points and the first to do so at the Division I level in a 79-75 win at Binghamton on Sunday. In that contest, the guard/forward turned in personal-best marks for points (28) and field goals (12), while adding 15 rebounds and five assists.

Cedrick Powell scored a season-best 21 points but Mansfield couldn’t overcome a season-high 22 turnovers in dropping an 85-72 PSAC East contest to unbeaten and nationally-ranked Shippensburg. Mansfield struggled to get untracked early, turning the ball over 14 times and shooting just 36 percent from the floor to trail 37-22 at halftime.

• In women’s basketball, Tianna Jackson led Mansfield with 12 points, but division-leading Shippensburg proved to be too much for the Mounties in a 75-47 PSAC East loss.
