Local roundup: Loyalsock clinches HAC-II title thanks to victory

• In boys basketball, Loyalsock clinched the HAC II title in their 78-66 win over Mifflinburg as four Lancers scored in double digits. Marcus Williams led with 17 points, Michael LaPoint had 13, Andrew Muggleton and Gerald Ross with 10 points.

Hughesville outscored South Williamsport by 20 in the first quarter en route to a 62-23 Spartan win Wednesday night at South. Conrad Sheatler led three Spartans in double-figures with 16 points as Taylor Mason had 14 and Landon Henry added 13. Pat West led South with 10.

Warrior Run was outscored 29-13 in the second half as it fell to Central Columbia, 62-35. Cody Rogers led Warrior Run with nine while Gage Anzulavich added eight.

Sullivan County outscored CMVT by 21 in the second half as the Griffins pulled away in its 59-28 win. John Saxe led Sullivan with 16 while Jon Pedro had 14 and Jordan Pedro added 10.

Montoursville cut a double-digit deficit down to three in the third quarter but Danville countered with a run as Montoursville fell, 59-43. Brycen Mussina led Montoursville with 12 while Noah Fagnano added 10.

Kevin Anderson recorded a double-double in St. John Neumann’s 85-30 win over Bucktail.

Anderson scored 10 points and had 14 assists, Noah Persun had nine points and 13 rebounds for Neumann.  Mike Kasper led Bucktail with 12 points.

Jake Butzler scored 24 points for the Bulldogs as Jersey Shore beat Midd-West, 73-51. Darrin Stetts added 11 points and Skylar Brion had nine.

Stanley Scott sealed the victory with a shot in the last minute as Williamsport won, 54-51, over Altoona. Scott finished with 23 points for the Millionaires, Rondell Carson and Qayyim AIi both had seven.

Muncy beat Montgomery, 79-28, thanks to 17 points from both Jeff Fry and Matt Coyner. Coyner had a double-double, adding a team-high 13 rebounds.

Cam St. James had 13 for Montgomery.

• Lock Haven fall short to Shippensburg, 88-72, in men’s basketball. Amir Hinton had a 16 point 14rebound double-double and Tarajore Brake scored a season-high 21 points for the Bald Eagles.

Despite a game-high 27-point effort by Malik Carter and a double-double from Da’Quan Jones, Kutztown rallied to tie the game in the final minutes of regulation and then held off upset-minded Mansfield in the last minute of overtime to escape with a 83-79 PSAC East win

• Lysa Mealing had a 13-point, 15-rebound double-double in the Lock Haven women’s 69-53 loss to Shippensburg.  Kayla Henderson led the Bald Eagles with 14.

Tianna Jackson led Mansfield with 10 points, but a slow start for the Mounties allowed Kutztown to earn a 62-39 PSAC East win. Brielle Kelly and Alyssa Mullins each added eight points.

• With wins in the first six bouts and six bonus-point wins, the Lycoming College wrestling team won its third straight dual meet with a dominating 40-7 win over Alfred State College.

Lycoming won the final two bouts at 197 and 285 pounds by pin in under a minute, as Bradley Miccio won in 0:54 and Skylar Ebner won in 0:40, respectively.
